Melanoma is a skin cancer that normally occurs when damage to the melanocytes is done. Melanoma is a deadly type of skin cancer with mole formation of unusual types and changing appearance of spots on the skin as some of the signs of skin cancer. The skin cancer signs usually indicate that this type is far more deadly than any other skin cancer form. The skin cancer signs of Melanoma usually spring up when the body or the skin is exposed to sun for prolonged periods or even intermittent periods. It normally occurs in light colored complexion skins.

There are basically three different types of skin cancers in Melanoma found in the population around the world. Whatever is the type of Melanoma, the signs of skin cancers are largely the same in all types. One can differentiate between these types of Melanoma usually by looking at certain aspects of skin cancer signs that include the formation of spots on different parts of the body. The first type is known as Superficial spreading type of Melanoma which is the most commonly found type in Melanoma and occurs in legs of women and back of men.

It normally occurs in the age group of 30 to 50. The second type of Melanoma skin cancer is known as Nodular type of Melanoma where in the skin cancer signs include formation of blue black purple colored lumps on the body. The signs of skin cancer in this case also include faster spreading. The third type of skin cancer in Melanoma is the Lentigo maligna type. The skin cancer signs in this case include formation of patches on face when exposed to sun constantly. The skin cancer in the case of lentigo maligna looks quite large with a irregular shape and color. It normally develops and spreads slowly.

Skin cancer occurs in a number of ways. The signs of skin cancer in different types of skin cancers are different. There are basically three different types of skin cancer which are associated with varying degrees of risk levels compared to one another. While the skin cancer signs in case of basal cell carcinoma can be commonly found, squamous cell carcinoma is one that has an occurrence intensity of only a fourth to that of basal cell carcinoma. Basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma are non Melanoma type of skin cancers and generally do not spread to others.

As the name suggests the signs of the skin cancer in case of squamous cell carcinoma can be seen erupting from the squamous cells. These cells are usually flat and thin. The word squamous in Latin refers to the scale of a fish and the look of the cells also resembles the scales of a fish and so is the name of the skin cancer. These squamous cells are usually found in the upper layers of the skin and the skin cancer signs erupts in the regions lining the respiratory tracts and the digestive tracts of the body. The cells are found usually in the tissues in these regions of the body.

The skin cancer in case of squamous cell carcinoma is usually found more commonly in men than women. The signs of the skin cancer of the squamous cells usually can be seen erupting more commonly in the form of red bumps on the scalp or face and also on hands which is usually known as the condition of actinic keratosis. Actinic keratosis is considered to be the earliest form of squamous skin cancer and the skin cancer signs are basically due to prolonged periods of exposure of the skin to sun.
